The Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace

Originally commissioned by former King Kgosi Lebone II, The Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace is a jewel in the crown of the Royal Bafokeng Nation, situated in the North West Province of South Africa.

Located in the capital city Phokeng, the stadium was originally built as a soccer and rugby venue and first opened in 2000, before it was revamped in order to host six matches during the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. The Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace now has a capacity of 44 500 and boasts 24 suites, new electronic scoreboards, a public address system and floodlighting powerful enough to cater for high definition television. There are also two large generators to provide backup power for the entire stadium.

With its convenient situation in Phokeng, midway between Sun City and Rustenberg, easily accessible from the N4 highway and only 10 minutes from the luxurious 5-star Royal Marang Hotel, it is a highly desirable venue for sporting events as well as both large and small scale corporate or social gatherings.

The Sports Palace is the home venue of Platinum Stars Football Club, which is majority owned by Royal Bafokeng Sports Holdings.

Events and conferencing at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace

Choose the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace as the location for your corporate or social event. The  conferencing facilities are state-of-the-art and the versatile suites are spaciously appointed and well serviced.

The stadium itself houses 2 venues. The stadium foyer on the ground floor can be set up for cocktail parties or banquets, and the King’s Hall, which can host up to 450 delegates and has a view out to the athletics track and pitch, is a spacious well-appointed area ideal for cocktail parties, launches or other large events.

There is also a U-shaped conference venue, which consists of three large sub-dividable rooms that contain a spacious quadrangle.
